Do you enjoy your job? Every day, every minute, every second? I am sure you don’t! I have never had a job where I enjoyed doing all it entailed, all the time, and with everybody involved. And this is okay. The problem begins when the negative aspects start overtaking all that you like about your job. When this happens, it can put you under a lot of stress.
What if you could simply decide that you want to enjoy your job, whatever happens?
What if you could simply reset your objective to enjoy your job every day, and then find ways to make it happen? Guess what? You can!
Ready to experiment with yourself? Try these simple ideas…
1. When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: “I enjoy my job!”
See how it feels. Do you really want to believe this? Does it feel real or impossible? What thoughts come to your mind when you say it? Take a good note of these thoughts and how they evolve over time.
2. Every day, note activities and situations that you enjoyed or and did not enjoy:
3. Ask yourself how you can use your observations.
4. Continue this exercise for at least three weeks.
5. Look for patterns; you will be amazed by how things are connected!
When I was doing this exercise, I discovered that I was putting too much focus on the negatives and not enough on the positives. By constantly reminding myself of all the things I enjoyed that day, I began to notice them much more. I was also able to see many more opportunities to do things I enjoyed. I noticed some behavioral patterns standing in the way of enjoying my job and started addressing them.
